Progress report and plans for 2019.

Judging from the pace by which I’m updating the content of the website as well as my Soundcloud profile, it seems nothing much is happening in my world right now. Well, far from that!

In the last four months, I’ve experienced a sort of explosion of new ideas. And when the inspiration strikes, you’ve got to follow! So, out of the blue, I’ve gathered enough material for three more albums in addition to the other three ones I’ve already finished thus far. I have another set of solo piano pieces which are kind of follow-up to my earliest work. Also, I’ve put down a base for yet another ambient collection. Right now, however, I’m in the finishing phase of the material called “Laissez-faire”, which is a fusion of piano melodies mixed with orchestral and cinematic elements. I will probably upload some of these tracks to my Soundcloud profile in due time.

I’m hoping to publish and release my first official album sometime this year. I’m still in a dilemma about many things, even about the decision on what to publish first. Logically, I should start with the twelve solo piano pieces that I’ve composed in the beginning, but I will probably go with a “second album” first, as this contains more variety and diversity. Most likely, I will publish my works through a service like CD Baby and if possible also by one of the local record labels.

I will try to delve into more styles of instrumental music and explore new sonic possibilities. So far, most of my recorded works are centered around a piano theme, which is not surprising since this is my main instrument and the one I’m the closest with. In the future, I’m hoping to get more comfortable in producing orchestral music, even without a strong presence of piano elements. Also, I’ll be experimenting with guitars and other acoustic instruments. Despite the obvious benefits and the allure of working primarily with electronic and virtual instruments, going back to the basics can be refreshing and liberating from time to time.

Lately, I’ve also been photographing quite a bit. Photography is another thing I’m passionate about, although I never had enough means to invest in more serious equipment. Most of the time, I just use my smartphone to capture some micro-moments from nature and from my own surroundings. Often, these provide musical inspiration as well. Other than that, I use these photos to design covers and other graphic elements I need. I’m hoping to put some of my visual works online in the future too.

Speaking of which, I’ve been thinking about the possibility of making at least a few music videos to accompany my music since everything today is about visual appearance. Of course, my main obstruction is always the cost. Maybe I will come across someone who I could possibly team up with just for the sake of altruism and art (fat chance of that)…

So this is all for the time being. Back to work while the inspiration lasts!
